The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) returns this weekend for Matchday 5 with only six matches on the cards, after four fixtures were postponed due to the involvement of clubs in continental competitions.

All four Nigeria representatives in CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup; Remo Stars, Rivers United, Kwara United and Abia Warriors are exempted due to their respective compaigns on the continent this weekend.

Despite the reduced schedule, fans are set for another exciting round of top-flight football across the country.

In Ibadan, Shooting Stars (3SC) will look to rewrite their poor start to the season when they host newcomers Kun Khalifat FC.

Shooting Stars are favoured to pick their first win of the season as the club have struggled so far despite wholesales changes in the technical staff and management of the team.

The visitors, however, are eager to prove they belong at this level and will not be pushovers at the Lekan Salami Stadium.

Bayelsa United will welcome Nasarawa United in Yenagoa, with Bayelsa United desperate for points to climb the table after inconsistent early-season form.

A mouth-watering clash awaits in Aba as ninth time champions Enyimba lock horns with Bendel Insurance.

Enyimba, known for their resilience, will be keen to assert dominance after going top last weekend with their first win of the season.

Insurance have shown they can challenge any team on their day, with their robust defensive approach to away games.

Expect a cracker in Aba, on Sunday evening.

In Minna, Niger Tornadoes will take on Ikorodu City in a battle that promises intensity.

Tornadoes will look to capitalize on home advantage, but the Lagos-based side has a reputation for causing upsets as they remain unbeaten so far in the season.

Elsewhere, El-Kanemi Warriors will face Warri Wolves in Maiduguri.

The home team will rely on their passionate supporters to tilt the contest in their favor.

Wolves arrive determined after a turbulent journey to the northeast. The newcomer are rearing to prove doubters wrong once again on the road.

The matchweek will close on Monday, September 22, as Katsina United host Wikki Tourists.

This northern derby is expected to draw huge local support, with both clubs seeking vital points in the early season race.

Though four games have been postponed, the six scheduled fixtures promise drama, passion, and quality football across Nigeria.
