NSC settles bonuses, allowances of athletes in Tokyo

The National Sports Commission (NSC) says it has settled bonus and allowances of Nigerian athletes at the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, Japan.

 

The NSC acknowledged that there were challenges and the body has intervened. According to Kehinde Ajayi, Director Press NSC, all bonuses and allowances of the athletes have been cleared.

 

This was after Bukola Olopade, the Director General of the Commission met with  athletes and officials the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) in Tokyo.

 

During the visit, the DG resolved outstanding disputes between the athletes and the AFN in order to prioritize the welfare of the athletes.

 

Nigeria has won one medal at the championship. Tobi Amusan won silver on Monday in the 100m hurdles, finishing with a time of 12.24s.
