The Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) has announced the immediate return of the NWFL Nationwide for the 2025 calendar season.

The Nationwide, which is the third tier of women’s league football in Nigeria will make a return for the first time since 2023.

Modupe Shabi, NWFL Chief Operating Officer, praised the NFF for the return of the league.

“The reinstatement of the NWFL Nationwide is a significant step towards strengthening the women’s football pyramid in Nigeria, hugely thanks to President Ibrahim Gusau-led NFF board.

“As the third tier, it plays a vital role in discovering and nurturing talent, giving more grassroots clubs and players the opportunity to compete, grow, and aspire to higher levels of the game,” she said.

Interested clubs are to approach the NWFL for registration. Registration opens on Tuesday, August 19, 2025 and closes on September 26, 2025.
