With just two days to the commencement of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premiership, the league body has confirmed the relegation of Castmog Ladies.
In a press release on Monday, the NWFL confirmed the relegation of the newly-promoted side for failing to meet essential club licensing and registration requirements for the new season.
This decision follows an earlier issued warning by the league warning three clubs, including Castmog Ladies, to comply with all registration and licensing obligations, but the Abeokuta-based side failed to meet the stipulated deadline despite reminders.
They were billed to play against Rivers Angels on Wednesday in Abeokuta. Rivers Angels were already on their way to for the away game and had to turn back to Port Harcourt after getting NWFL’s decision.
With Castmog now relegated, the leave will proceed on Wednesday 26th November 2025 with 25 teams. As a result of this, every club, including Rivers Angels who are billed to play Castmog Ladies, will now observe a bye on those matchdays.
