Bright Osayi-Samuel, Super Eagles defender, believes the team can still qualify for the 2026 World Cup despite their current position on the table.

Osayi-Samuel said this while speaking to newsmen on Tuesday morning at the Benin Airport when he arrived in the city to witness the final game of the Bright Osayi-Samuel U-13 football tournament.

“I still think we can qualify. The aim is just to win every single game. We believe in our team,” he said.

“Though it will be difficult, but for us and the team, I think we have a good chance,” he added.

He further revealed that his teammates align with Eric Chelle’s high pressing football, adding that if the team gets more time together, they can do better.

“For me, the coach is fantastic. The way he wants us to press and run; I think everyone in the team is aligned to his ideas,” he said.

“In our last game against Russia, we contained a team that has not lost in six or seven matches. If we keep working together, we have a good chance,” he continued.

The Super Eagles currently sit 4th on the table with 7 points and must win all remaining games in order to have a chance of making it to the World Cup hosted by Canada, United States and Mexico.
