The delegation of Nigeria’s home-based senior men national team, Super Eagles B, has arrived in the island of Zanzibar in Tanzania for a final phase of camping ahead of this year’s 8th African Nations Championship, styled ‘Pamoja 2024’.

Led by Head Coach Eric Chelle, the team which had been camping at the Remo Stars Sports Institute in Ikenne-Remo for some weeks, will stay at the Blue Ocean Hotel on the island.

Nigeria will play Cup holders group D opponents Senegal and Sudan at the 15,000-capacity Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar, before moving to the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on the mainland of Tanzania (Dar es Salaam) for their final group stage clash with Congo.

coach Chelle had on Wednesday picked his final squad of 23 players, who will defend Nigeria’s colours, bearing in mind that the country finished as runners-up at the 2018 finals in Morocco, and as bronze medallists at the finals in South Africa four years earlier.

The African Nations Championship, which was launched in the year 2009, is exclusively reserved for footballers playing their trade in their country’s domestic league in Africa, and possessing valid contracts.

The 8th African Nations Championship will involve 19 participating nations, and be played in five venues across five venues in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda: Moi International Sports Centre (known as Kasarani) and Nyayo National Stadium in Kenya; Benjamin Mkapa Stadium and Amaan Stadium in Zanzibar and; Mandela National Stadium in Uganda.
