Police tighten security ahead of Super Eagles game on Saturday

Ahead of Nigeria’s World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on Saturday in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State Police Command has assured fans and visitors of adequate security.

 

The Commissioner of Police (CP), Baba Mohammed Azare said all arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free campaign.

 

“All arrangements have been put in place to ensure a hitch-free World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Rwanda this coming Saturday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.

 

“We are determined to guarantee that football-loving Nigerians enjoy the football match under a peaceful atmosphere devoid of any infractions of law and have directed the deployment of specially selected officers knowledgeable in crowd control and policing events to prove top-notch security before, during and after the football match,” he said.

 

The Police boss urged football fans to conduct themselves in an orderly manner in order to make the job of the security officials easier. Saturday’s match begins at 5pm.
