Nigeria has become the African nation to ever compete in the 2-woman Bobsleigh event at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) World Cup.

Simi Adeagbo and Kewe King made history when they took to the ice in Cortina D’Ampezzo, Italy, a venue renowned for winter sports.

It was the first time in the World Cup that an African duo would compete at the two-woman category.

44-year-old Adeagbo previously represented Nigeria in Skeleton at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. She made history as the first African woman to compete in Olympic Skeleton. She later switched to Bobsled and competed in the monobob and also the two-woman sled in 2023.

King is a member of the British military whose mother is Nigerian. She recently started winter sports but had taken part in Army athletic track and field competitions.
