Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he will meet with Mohamed Salah on Friday morning to decide whether the forward will feature in Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Brighton & Hove Albion.
The development follows a turbulent week in which Salah publicly expressed frustration over his recent treatment.
After Liverpool’s 1–1 draw at Leeds last weekend, the 33-year-old forward said he felt he had been “thrown under the bus” by the club, comments which generated widespread debate.
Salah was subsequently left out of the squad for Tuesday’s Champions League match away to Inter Milan, deepening questions surrounding his relationship with the manager and his current role in the team.
Speaking in the mixed zone at Elland Road, Salah insisted he had “earned his place” in the side.
Slot confirmed on Friday that the situation would be addressed internally.
“I will have a conversation with Mo this morning,” the Liverpool boss said.
“The outcome of that conversation determines how things will look on Saturday.”
Liverpool host Brighton at Anfield at 15:00 GMT as they attempt to return to winning ways after back-to-back league draws.
Salah, who has scored 250 goals in 420 appearances for the club, has been an unused substitute in two of Liverpool’s past three Premier League matches.
He last featured in the league during the 1–1 draw against Sunderland on 3 December, coming on from the bench.
His most recent start dates back to 26 November in the Champions League defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
