Nigeria’s Super Eagles B got off to a losing start at the African Nations Championship with a 0-1 loss to Senegal.
The lads came into the game in high spirits with their high pressing game but failed to create any chances in the opening moments of the game as the Senegalese were compact at the back.
The game became physical midway into the first half and the Eagles got two early yellow cards to captain, Nduka Junior and Raymond Tochukwu. Senegal knocked the ball around well but had no real effort to trouble Mustapha Lawal in goal.
Senegal broke the deadlock in the 75th minute when Christian Gomis profited from a defensive mixup and slotted home.
Eric Chelle made changes to salvage the situation with the introduction of Godwin Obaje, Shola Adelani, Vincent Temitope and Anas Yusuf but the Eagles could not stage a comeback.
Next for the team is a game against Sunday on Tuesday, August 12 and they must win in order to keep their hopes of staying on the competition bright
