The Super Falcons of Nigeria paid a visit to injured South African player, Gabriela Salgado in hospital on Wednesday after her successful surgery at the Mohamed VI University Hospital in Casablanca.
Salgado was injured in the final stages of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) semifinal match between South Africa and the Falcons at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium, a sight that left players and officials of both teams distraught.
On Wednesday, the South African Football Association (SAFA) announced that Salgado had undergone a successful surgery after sustaining a fracture of the mid-shaft of her left leg and will be out of action for the rest of the year.
SAFA extended their profound gratitude to CAF, the Bayana Bayana medical team and the dedicated staff at the Mohammed VI University Hospital for their care and professionalism. They also thanked the Super Falcons for their visit and for sending a warm message to the Federation and the player.
The Falcons players presented Salgado with a signed Super Falcons jersey and wished her a quick recovery.
