Nigeria’s Super Falcons and Shakirat Moshood have made the final shortlist for the 2025 CAF Awards.
In a list made public on Friday, the African champions made the shortlist for the women’s team of the year, alongside Ghana and Morocco.
The Super Falcons came from two goals down to beat Morocco 3-2 in an epic WAFCON final in Rabat. Morocco made back-to-back appearances in the final and were just 45 minutes away from their first WAFCON title. The Black Queens of Ghana beat South Africa in the third-place game to win bronze.
In the women’s young player of the year category, Flamingos captain, Shakirat Moshood was named in the final three alongside Morocco and ASFAR’s Moha El Madani, as well as Senegal and AS Bambey’s Adji Ndiye.
Moshood led the Flamingos to the round of 16 at the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup. She also finished as top scorer at the WAFU ZONE B Women’s Champions League qualifiers.
