African champions, Nigeria’s Super Falcons, have dropped one place in the FIFA rankings, from 36th to 37th, according to the FIFA rankings released on Thursday.
The Falcons failed to play a friendly game in the November window and it had an impact on the rankings. The team now has 1607.063 points.
The Falcons are still the number one ranked team in Africa according to the rankings, followed by South Africa and Ghana who are second and third on the continent. Zambia and Morocco complete the top five in Africa.
At the world stage, world champions, Spain are still number 1 in the world, followed by USA in second and Germany in third. European champions, England are fourth while Sweden completes the top five.
Surprisingly, Wales (32), Ukraine (34), Vietnam (36) are all ranked above the Falcons. The Super Falcons beat Benin Republic over two legs to qualify for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in what was their last activity and will finish the year as Africa’s best team.
