Team Nigeria begins with victory at Scrabble Championship

Team Nigeria started well in the opening day of the Pan African Scrabble Youth Championship on Thursday in Kenya.

 

Team Nigeria registered 138 players competing for honours in two categories; the U19 and U15. Abdulqudus Aliu leads the country’s 54 players in the U19 category with 5 wins in 5 games and a cumulative point of plus 915.

 

Prestige Archibong has four wins and has amassed a total of 1244 points. Joy Nwabuzor, Nigeria’s only female in the U19 category has four wins and plus 546 points while team captain, Sufyan Olojoku has three wins.

 

In the U15 event, Hassan Olojoku, Sophia Ekeruche and Eliana Igbe won their first three rounds with a cumulative of plus 687 points with Eliana having 43 points less.

 

Apart from the Pan African Scrabble Championship, the PANASA President’s Cup started in Kenya on Thursday with 20 players representing Team Nigeria in the second biggest Scrabble competition on the continent.
