Team Nigeria departs to Cairo for World Karate Championship

Team Nigeria has departed to Cairo, Egypt for the World Karate Championship scheduled for Thursday, November 27 – 30, 2025. 

The delegation left on Monday afternoon. Nigeria will be represented by five athletes who have qualified for the championship. The athletes are:

 

Loveth Ngozi Okoro – Kumite -50kg

 

Godfirst Orie Ukoha-Sampson – Kumite -55kg

 

Constance Tamunodiepreye Abode – Kumite -61kg

 

Ujunwa Caroline Nwankwo – Kumite +68kg

 

Oluwaseun Olorunbe – Kumite – Male Kata

 

 

The team have been in close camping and will be led to the event by head coach, Efezino Akpotu while Olusegun Abode will serve as leader of the delegation.

 

Four of the karatekas are the country’s top female athletes and have showcased their talents at the annual Zainab Saleh International Female Open Karate Championship.
