William Troost-Ekong, Super Eagles captain says the team will give their best against Benin Republic on Tuesday and hope for the best.

Troost-Ekong spoke at the pre-match press conference on Tuesday. He said his teammates are focused on making history and be able to look back and say they did a good job.

“What the boys are really focused on is giving their best. Playing against Benin is not easy; there’s no guarantee once you are playing against a coach that knows this team very well.

“We will focus on ourselves, everything is possible. We will give our best shot and hope it will be enough to qualify. All of us want to be there,” said Ekong.

“This is our life as well, this is our history that we are trying to create. We are very focused, preparation has been a real work.

“At the end of the game we see what we have but at least we should be able to look at ourselves and say that we gave everything possible.

“We’ve believed many times that people didn’t believe in us and we will continue to do so. The boys are in good spirits and I trust them. This is an opportunity of our lives,” he concluded.

Troost-Ekong who hopes to get his 83rd cap for the Super Eagles against Benin also said the game in Uyo is an opportunity for the team to repay the faith of the fans. Kickoff for the match is 5pm.
