Nigeria’s U17 Women’s football team, the Flamingos, will leave Nigeria for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco on October 8, 2025.
The Bankole Olowookere coached team have been in Abuja preparing for the mundial with friendly games. The team have had impressive results from their friendly games as they prepare to surpass their round of 16 finish in the last edition.
This is the first edition of the five consecutive FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup tournaments which will be hosted by Morocco.
The Flamingos have played eight friendly matches, winning all and conceding none, showing their goal scoring prowess and defensive strength ahead of the Morocco World Cup.
The girls played their 8th friendly game of the series on Sunday with a 5-0 victory over Horvel Prime at the NSC training pitch, Abuja. The match lasted only 40 minutes due to heavy rain but before then, Queen Joseph had grabbed a hat-trick while captain, Shakirat Moshood and Azeezat Oduntan got the other goals.
The Flamingos are in Group D where they will face Canada, France and Damian. The tournament is scheduled for 17th October – 8th November 2025.
