UCL: Gyökeres ruled out of Slavia Prague vs Arsenal clash

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Viktor Gyökeres will miss Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Slavia Prague after sustaining a muscle injury.

The Swedish forward was forced off during Arsenal’s 2–0 Premier League win over Burnley at the weekend and did not take part in Monday’s training session.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Arteta expressed concern over the striker’s condition:

“I am concerned because he hasn’t had many muscular issues, and he had to leave the pitch feeling something. That’s never a good sign, especially for a player as explosive as he is. We’re still assessing the situation to understand the extent of the injury.”

Arteta further confirmed that Gyökeres will play no part in the midweek fixture:

“He’s definitely not available to face Slavia. He hasn’t trained today, and we’ll carry out more tests and scans over the next few days.”

Arsenal, who are aiming for their first-ever Champions League crown, have made a strong start to the 2025 campaign.

The Gunners sit six points clear of second-placed Manchester City and seven ahead of defending champions Liverpool in the Premier League.

In Europe, the North London side have maintained a perfect record so far, winning all three of their opening group-stage matches.
