First Bank Basketball Club wrapped up their 2025 FIBA Women’s Basketball League Africa (WBLA) outing in 10th place following a 48–42 loss to F.A.P Women in Thursday’s 9th–10th classification match at the Prince Abdallah Al Faisal Sports Hall in Egypt.

The Nigerians endured a difficult shooting night, highlighted by a scoreless third quarter that shifted momentum firmly in favour of the Cameroonian side.

Although First Bank mounted a late surge in the fourth quarter, they were unable to close the gap as F.A.P maintained their composure down the stretch.

F.A.P Women’s dominance on the glass proved decisive. They outrebounded First Bank 64–41, grabbing 23 offensive boards that led to crucial second-chance opportunities.

Their control in the paint was equally telling, outscoring the Nigerian team 34–16 inside.

Shooting inefficiency further hampered First Bank’s efforts as they finished with 25.6% from the field and failed to convert any attempt from beyond the arc.

F.A.P also struggled from long range but produced a better overall field goal percentage at 30%.

The contest featured seven lead changes, but F.A.P Women held the advantage for over 30 minutes and protected the rim effectively with six blocks.

First Bank, on the other hand, failed to register a block throughout the game.

Despite forcing 21 turnovers, First Bank were unable to fully capitalise, scoring just 11 points from F.A.P’s errors — the same total conceded at the other end.

Their bench provided a commendable 24 points, but it was insufficient against the Cameroonians’ stronger interior play and superior rebounding.

The defeat confirms First Bank’s 10th-place finish in the WBLA classification, while F.A.P Women conclude their campaign in 9th place.
