Ashleigh Plumptre, Super Falcons defender, has stated that her team need to improve on their efficiency in their decision-making, particularly in the defense and the attacking areas of their games at the ongoing WAFCON tournament in Morocco.
She said this following Nigeria’s sumptuous 3-0 win over Tunisia, in their opening game of Group B, at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium on Sunday, in Casablanca, Morocco, sportresonance.com, reports.
According to the Al-Ittihad left full back, there were nerves and excitement going into the game, but felt relieved with the win, which she said is a progressive step towards attaining their goal, believing they could have done better attacking wise in terms of their standards.
”There was a lot of nerves going into the first game, nerves and excitement, but to come out with three goals and a clean sheet is a nice way to start a tournament,” Plumptre said.
“We will take this as a good stepping stone going into the next game, obviously we will look back and see what we did well, and what we need to improve on going into the next game. I think attacking wise and defensively we probably could have been a little better in terms of our standards, but for sure, we are happy with the three points.”
Nigeria will face third-placed Botswana on Thursday, while second-placed Algeria face bottom-placed Tunisia in a North African derby.
