FIFA has communicated to the Nigeria Football Federation that central defender, Semi Ajayi will miss Nigeria’s game with Gabon in November.
Ajayi was booked in Nigeria’s game against Benin Republic on Tuesday following a foul on the Benin goalkeeper. That was his second yellow in FIFA World Cup qualifiers, hence he will miss a game as the rules require.
Ajayi was named in the starting team ahead of captain, William Troost-Ekong Ekong and he played with Calvin Bassey in central defense while Benjamin Frederick was moved to right back.
Ajayi will be free to play in the next game of the World Cup playoffs if Nigeria beat Gabon.
Gabon have also been informed that star striker, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will be free to play against Nigeria after he served his suspension in their final game against Burundi.
Aubameyang was shown a second yellow card late in the game against Gambia, where he scored four goals to guarantee his side a place in the playoffs.
