The Dallas Wings, a Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) has signed D’Tigress forward Amy Okonkwo on a seven-day hardship contract.
The team made the announcement on Thursday. Okonkwo was the Most Valuable Player of the 2025 Afrobasket tournament, an award she also won in 2023.
A seven-day hardship contract in the WNBA is a temporary deal which allows teams to sign more players when they are left with fewer than 10 available players due to injuries and absences.
The deal may be renewed after the expiration of the seven-day period.
Okonkwo played collegiate basketball at the University of Southern California between 2014-2015 and for Fort Worths Texas Christian University between 2016-2019 where she earned Big 12 six Player of the Year honours in 2018.
She moved to France to play for Bourges in the 2024-2025 season. This deal will take her back to the US and she will hope to impress. She will be available for selection for Friday’s game against the Seattle Storm
