Imama Amapakabo, coach of Abia Warriors says his team are ready for the 2025/2026 football season.

Speaking to the club’s media team on Friday, the former league winner with Enugu Rangers says his team will build on their achievements of last season where they qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup for the first time in their history.

“It will be funny if at this time, a few days to the commencement of the league, we say we’re not prepared. We’ve been able to do our bits in our best possible way. I think we will be building on whatever it is that we’ve been able to achieve last season,” he declared.

Imama believes that starting well against Kano Pillars on Sunday at the Umuahia Township Stadium will be the tonic Abia Warriors need for the season.

“I believe that every game is different from the other game. Despite all odds, we want to win like they also want to win. It’s a very long way to go, one of the tough games like every other tough game we’re going to play this season, and we want to start well,” he said.

Abia Warriors will hope to start on a good note in the league, to condition themselves well for a big test against Djoliba of Mali in their debut game on the continent.
